The Joseph M. & Fay E. Hutchinson Foundation

Dr. Joseph M. Hutchinson dedicated his life to ministry, education, and the development of strong, purpose‑driven leaders. His commitment to the gospel was evident throughout his decades of service, where he distinguished himself as a pastor, evangelist, administrator, and church builder. He believed deeply in the power of spiritual formation and in equipping individuals to serve their communities with integrity and compassion.

A scholar at heart, Dr. Hutchinson valued education as a foundation for meaningful service. He pursued advanced theological training and later expanded his academic work in the field of social work, strengthening his understanding of human needs, justice, and community care. His belief in lifelong learning shaped his ministry and inspired countless individuals to pursue their own academic and professional goals.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hutchinson championed Christian education, stewardship, and evangelism. He invested in students across disciplines, encouraging them to build strong career paths and to uplift others as they advanced. His leadership reflected a deep conviction that education and ministry work hand‑in‑hand to transform lives and communities.

Dr. Hutchinson’s legacy is defined by his unwavering commitment to service, his belief in the potential of others, and his dedication to expanding access to education. His influence continues through the Joseph and Fay Hutchinson Foundation, which advances the values he lived by: faith, learning, generosity, and opportunity.

& Mrs. Fay E. Hutchinson was raised in a home where education was not only valued, but woven into the rhythm of daily life. Her parents cultivated a deep love for learning and consistently encouraged academic excellence — not just within their own household, but throughout their local community.

This commitment to educational uplift became a defining part of Mrs. Hutchinson’s life and legacy. Together with her husband, Pastor Joseph M. Hutchinson, she championed opportunities for young people to pursue meaningful academic and professional pathways. Pastor Hutchinson gave generously to students across multiple disciplines and levels of study, always with the intention of placing them on strong, sustainable career trajectories.

The Joseph and Fay Hutchinson Scholarships were established from this shared belief: that when a young person is supported, they are empowered to rise — and ultimately to lift others beyond the help they themselves received.

Today, these scholarships are administered through the Joseph M. and Fay E. Hutchinson Foundation in Pikesville, Maryland, and the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh‑day Adventists in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Their work continues the Hutchinsons’ enduring mission to expand access, strengthen futures, and cultivate generations of learners who give back
